Loudoun Hill 2014

LOUDOUN HILL COMMEMORATION 2014

What a fantastic day at Loudon Hill with the Society of William Wallace, Strathleven Artizans and the Young Lions and fortunately the weather stayed good for us and only started to rain when we had finished.

Emotional day for me, with my both daughters involved with Charli laying the wreath on behalf of the Society and Abbey with her maiden speech on behalf of the Young Lions.

Duncan started off proceedings by welcoming a healthy crowd to the commemoration before we witnessed the Swords of Dalriada who had us all in awe and sure a few of them will be waking up today with some bruises.

First speaker off the day was Brian McCutcheon of both the Society and the Strathleven Artizans who delivered an outstanding speech, was so glad when i wasn't asked to speak next.

Next up was my youngest daughter Charli laying the wreath for which we practiced all the previous night to get it right, then Abbey, my eldest, with her maiden speech and I may be biased here, as being her Dad but she was outstanding.

Next was me. as usual, in tears to start my speech off but I had an excuse, so proud of my daughters.

Gordon from the Society finished off with "Scots Wha Hae" whereupon we all headed back to the Black Bull for a few refreshments, music and some food.

A big thank you to the Society for the presents of theYoung Lions T shirts and caps for my two girls who were over the moon with them.

A BIG THANK YOU GOES TO WILLIAM BALLANTYNE AND HIS LOVELY PARTNER ANNE FOR ORGANISING THE WHOLE EVENT AND DESERVE GREAT CREDIT FOR THE WHOLE DAY, See you all next year , Gary
