Well, the rain held off until the commemoration was over, as the forecast had been rather grim and no doubt accounted for the low turn out. Ted opened proceedings by asking Stevie Hughes to set the scene. David Reid, SOWW Convenor, also said a few words about the importance of Wallace to Stirling. Flowers were laid, a minute's silence was observed then Ted sang a couple of songs, the new saltire was (finally) raised (after the usual struggle) and that was it for another year. Most folk headed for the pub and a few more songs from Ted. |
