Robroyston again was a major success, and a big thank you is due to George Kempik for organising this event and coming up with the idea of having the event on the actual date that Wallace was captured, which has seemed to work very well.
The weather again was kind to us and we started off with George saying a few words about what happened on that fateful morning. We then had our first song from Gordon Aitken of the Society and it was then on to the convenor of the Society to say a few words which (as per Gary) was more than a just few words!
Gordon then gave us his second song of the night which was written about Davy's Walk for Wallace - which was apt as you will know Davy started his walk from Robroyston in 2005.
We then went on to our main speaker of the night in David Turner who did a brilliant job of talking about Wallace’s life and what he meant for the people of Scotland. He followed this up by raising the new saltire at the monument.
We finished off with Gordon singing 'Scots Wha Hae' and then George opened it up to see if anyone else wanted to say a few words. George Boyle spoke about his first speech at Robroyston, Tam Reilly spoke on what Wallace meant to him and then Lorna Taylor stood up to say there was going to be a clean-up at the Wallace Well and asked if anyone wanted to volunteer.
Overall a wonderful night on what is a sad occasion, and a big thank you to everyone involved - and especially to the people who attended.
