WALLACE DAY 20th AUGUST 2016

Gary welcomes everyone

Once again time to gather to pay homage to our National Hero. This year due to the very inclement weather we decided to hold the majority of the event indoors. A small party braved the elements between downpours to lay the wreaths at the memorial, but all the speeches and presentations were held in the warmth and comfort of Elderslie Hall.

The Gentleman in the wheel chair is Mr Clarence William Murray Stevenson, who is approaching his 87th birthday. He attended his first Wallace day aged 3 years old on the 20th of August 1932 when he received a special award from the society.
Compere for the day Neil Lochiel
First up was Young Lion member Charli Stewart doing her first ever speech - well done, young lady.
This gentleman needs no introduction - the one and only Alastair MacDonald.
Next up we had the pleasure of Mr Hugh Allison who gave a fantastic talk on William Wallace.
The rain had stopped so some of us ventured down to lay our wreath and raise a toast.
Donna MacKay lays the Society wreath.
Blairdardie Primary School teacher Erica Hughes collected The Society of William Wallace Young Lions Outstanding achievement award.
Our next Award went to "Fiery Jack" members George Thom & Donald Neil for continued support towards the society.
Top award of the night went to our own George Kempik who won the David R Ross member of the year award and the shock on his face was there for all to see.
Right, let's get this party started! - Fiery Jack.
Special Guest Brina all the way from Jamaica
