23/08/19 at noon, in a very unusual year. This would have been the fifth year when we lay our white roses at Cambuskenneth. Given the pandemic, and the fact that the Wallace Day commemoration the day before had been a virtual one (and a very successful event), it was considered that this event should be shelved, as have so many others this year. But a few of the committee members decided that they, and a very small group of family members, would attend whilst observing social distancing, to lay roses at both Cambuskenneth and the memorial at Elderslie. This was accordingly done, without any ceremony or speeches, just a few people who were determined that the day be marked safely and appropriately.
